Hey there Nuwa Insider,

Last week, we spent five days measuring ourselves against industry leaders. On the whole, we felt at home surrounded by tech giants and plucky startups, and we were encouraged by the feedback we received. Today, we'll dive into our goals for 2025 and highlight a recent milestone.

  • 2025 Goals
  • CES Wrapped
  • Nuwa Bites

2025 Goals
While some of our goals are glaringly obvious—especially to you—others may be more subtle. We're also open to adding more as long as they are realistic. First and foremost, we have our number one goal:

Deliver all pre-orders
We’re still on track to start delivering pens this month (knock on wood). However, fulfilling all the more than 5k orders before the end of the month will be tricky due to the logistics involved. But we will start shipping!

Continue to develop
While we’re very happy with our progress and reassured by the recent feedback, we’re under no illusions that our work is done. Nuwa Pen is a continuous project with endless possibilities for refinement. Throughout 2025 (and beyond), we’ll maintain a tight feedback loop with you (and other customers) to get the best out of Nuwa Pen and its surrounding ecosystem.

Extend the Nuwa ecosystem
The term “ecosystem” has become commonplace in the tech world, and we’re thinking deeply about what ours looks like—more specifically, how it works and fits into your life. As we continue to expand it by adding new features and integrations, we’ll rely on your feedback to steer us in the right direction.

Public Launch
This year, we’re not only shipping pre-orders; we’re also planning to launch Nuwa Pen publicly. This is no small feat, as it requires everything to be in perfect alignment. As Elon Musk famously said, “It’s relatively easy to make a prototype but extremely difficult to mass manufacture.”

CES Wrapped
Over the course of a week, we shook thousands of hands, enjoyed just as many conversations, and put Nuwa Pen in the hands of hundreds. No wonder our team came back sniffling and jetlagged.

Making the Good List
You might have seen us popping up in a few X threads (like this) last week. It seems we caused a buzz, with many tech reviewers putting us on their list of favorites.

Showing Off Nuwa Pen
Not only did we make it onto the good lists of many, but we also loved seeing the real-time reactions of people using Nuwa Pen.

Feedback
One of the most valuable things to us at this stage is constructive feedback, and we received heaps of it at CES. No doubt it will help us further develop and refine Nuwa Pen to align with our dream goals.

Oh, and one more thing!

Compliance
When it comes to manufacturing, one of the unavoidable hurdles is passing compliance. The keen-eyed among you will remember that we passed pre-compliance—the mock test. We’re happy to announce that we passed the real thing late last month. That means one less obstacle stands in our way.

Nuwa Bites
Not to brag, but we received a lot of attention at CES. Our favorite moment was our brief cameo on Taiwanese TV. Enter Sam...

Hello Nuwa Insiders,

Fiorella here with an update from CES in Las Vegas!

We’ve been showcasing the Nuwa Pen to a steady stream of visitors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, and it’s been quite the ride. Competitor companies, potential collaborators, journalists, curious attendees, pen lovers—you name it, they’ve stopped by to check out how we aim to preserve handwriting. It’s incredible to see how many people are curious about Nuwa Pen, whether it’s the cutting-edge features or their love for writing by hand.

We’re thrilled to have been mentioned alongside companies like Nvidia and BYD as one of the most exciting technologies at CES, and we’ve been going viral on X! In this video, you can see how it worked for a Japanese journalist.

This is us from CES 2025 (Sam, Breno, Fiorella, and Marc)

That was it!

With love and gratitude to our backers <3

Hey there Nuwa Insiders,

We’re only weeks away from shipping you Nuwa Pen. Our Private Beta testers have provided a lot of great feedback, and we are getting ready to transition to the Public Beta phase – for everyone who has pre-ordered Nuwa Pen – including you.

As one of our very early supporters, you’ll be among the first to experience Nuwa Pen and help shape the future of writing. Here’s what you can expect:

Core Features Ready

  • Digital Copy: A nearly identical digital copy of your handwritten notes.
  • Typed Text: Convert your handwriting into typed text.
  • Search and Share: Easily find old notes and share them as PDFs.
  • Dashboard: Get insight into how much time you spend writing.
  • Unlimited Storage: All your writing is accessible from your device.

Public Beta Experience

  • Functional out-of-the-box with core features.
  • Software improvements are always in progress, with your feedback.
  • Straightforward in-app reporting for any issues you encounter.
  • Help us build Augmented Notes to integrate with your favorite apps seamlessly.

As with any groundbreaking technology, there may be some bugs that we’ll address through regular updates. There are infinitely different ways people write by hand, and Nuwa Pen will get more intelligent the more people write with it. Our team is committed to providing prompt support via [email protected] and continuous software improvements based on your real-world usage.

We expect to start shipping the first units in Public Beta by late January 2025. We’ll provide an update on the exact shipping date before we ship.

Thank you again for your patience and trust in us. We can’t wait for you to experience the future of writing with Nuwa Pen.

Warm regards,

Marc and the Nuwa Team

P.S. Wishing you a joyful holiday season!?

Hi Nuwa Pen Insider!

This month, we've taken our testing up a notch, developing our user interface, improving the app experience, and dialing in digitization and text conversion consistency. Our CEO and founder, Marc, will fill you in on what’s been going on at Nuwa HQ. You can also watch our latest Nuwa Pen demo.

We've been making lots of progress over the last few weeks, but we've got some way to go. Many of you ask us how Nuwa Pen works and what the output is like. Check out our latest demo, this time illustrating how Nuwa Pen works in a meeting setting.

PRODUCT UPDATES

Search Bar
Another small but powerful aspect of Nuwa Pen is the capability to search through your notes to find important information. We’ve built our app to be intuitive to use with a search bar that accesses all your previous notes/canvases.

Text Conversion
We’re finally nailing down the feature that will allow you to enjoy handwriting without the hassle of transcription afterward. Text conversion is at the heart of Nuwa Pen, bridging the gap between your handwritten notes and your digital documents.

NOTEVEMBER, KEEP WRITING.

Each day we’ll provide prompts about the present and future. You can find the whole list below or follow our social accounts. There’s no word minimum, limit or requirement. Just sit down and put pen to paper.

Prompt 1 - What do you think about social media and what do you hope for in the future?

Use the #notevember or tag us @nuwapen on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter to share your progress and/or your ideas, insights or frustrations. Or join the Notevember subReddit for exclusive discussions.

Beta Testers

This month, we are preparing everything to send the beta products to our Beta and Tech testers.

Thanks for being part of preserving handwriting,

Best,

For all our Backers,

Delivery Update
As many of you have noticed, we’ve entered the shipping window outlined in our last delivery update (October to December). However, we regret to announce a delay to that timeline. We could shift the blame, but we won’t. Several factors, some within our control and some beyond it, have led to this decision. That’s the unchangeable reality of developing a groundbreaking piece of technology and scaling unique designs to mass production.

Click on the image to see the full timeline.

We’ve been busy testing in-house and have made promising progress. Before we share it with the world, here's a sneak peek of our double-line demo (featuring digitization and transcription).

Our engineers have been testing each aspect of the pen from digitization to transcription. We've also been measuring its consistency. Check out the digitization comparison below. The results aren't 100% accurate (yet) but the we're getting closer to the level of consistency we expect.

New Year, New Pen
In November, we’ll be shipping beta tester pens and reviewing their feedback. Then, in December, we’ll press the green button for mass production, with pre-orders (placed before May 31st) ready to ship in January.

We know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear, and it’s certainly not the news we wanted to deliver. But in line with our commitment to transparency, we wanted to inform you as soon as we could.

We’re sure you have plenty of questions, and we’re ready to answer every one we can.

What’s the hold-up?
We’re delaying for several reasons, both technical and logistical. At the end of the day, it comes down to quality. As we’ve said all along, we’re not prepared to deliver something we aren’t proud of, and that you won’t be proud to show off.

Who’s responsible?
We take collective responsibility for the delay—there’s no finger-pointing here. If you have a question, gripe, statement, or anything else, feel free to contact [email protected].

When will I know more?
Throughout the year, we’ve tried to keep you as informed as possible. We’ll continue with regular updates and aim to be as responsive as we can. If anything changes with delivery or production, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

How has this happened?
Nuwa Pen is an incredibly complex device to develop and manufacture. Many factors have contributed to slowing our progress, ultimately resulting in a delayed delivery date.

Why couldn’t you tell us sooner?
The tricky thing about planning a delivery timeline with so many moving parts is that things can, and often do, change. We wanted to wait until we could provide you with a concrete timeframe.

We are trying to keep you in track of all the changes and challenges we face, so please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you so much for being part of this journey and believing in Nuwa Pen.

Best,

Marc
